Kurt had some comments about the grounds. A tree on the corner near the pavilion near the shed that is dead. Some other trees on the edge of the property. 3 or 4 trees there wrapped in vines that look dead as well. Partial tree fell in the yard. Another dead tree on the other end of the property. Work detail? Wood wasp burrowing into the pavilion. Visible sawdust from them. Ramp area far east side bay near the pickup truck at the edge of the pavement. Weeds are growing in these stones. Outback near the shed the big hose divider has been out there for a few years. 70-90 pounds of aluminium. Alot of aluminum in the mezzanine in the connector section. Chief would want to keep the ladder. Kurt would recycle the extra pieces. It has been there for 10 years. Commissioners state feel free to recycle those. Discussion on the plow biddings coming from members. Have a sign up sheet and purchase a plow and have members do that. Also with the custodian biddings coming up maybe have those members sign up and clean as well. Board said they will take that under consideration.
Motion to accept room request for Beth Miller for Jul13.
  5. Chairman’s Comments – 7:08pm No updates.
  6. Chief’s Monthly Report 7:11pm. –
    a. Activity and Calls – 36 alarms. Report attached. 3 boat operations. Tour of the air guard. TOAC breathe down. Aaron Dula completed evac class. Alex Carr will have his last EMT class tomorrow and test on the 19th. Live burn yesterday. 7 interior firefighters did their annual live burn requirements. Bill tonight for that. Governor announced extending the reimbursement to the basic wildland suppression class. Assisting in Scotia with their fireworks. Boat on the river, UTV down in the village with EMS. Another crew up at the church parking cars. Schenectady County July 1 – contracted with Rotterdam EMS to supply 1 ambulance as a county ambulance mutual aid to go anywhere in the county. They think this will solve the problem. Chief met with the town supervisor, and they are exploring EMS issues in the town. Trying to put back on the fire department. It is an EMS issue. He is trying to put these issues together with Fire

and EMS. When it is two separate issues. EMS district is needed and would raise taxes. Daytime car like during Covid. Alplaus doesn’t have this issue but it is in the town. Discussions ongoing on that topic. Discussion that Jeff brought up what does rotterdam mean, does that make an addendum to the contract with Mohawk? Glenn explained that if Mohawk cant give an ambulance that is when Rotterdam would get called. Explained how Conifer and Glendale have private contracts and they can call them directly and not call 911.
    b. Announcement of New Members:
    c. Equipment Report – Boat is still not in the river due to the river’s height. Spring issue in 2221 has been resolved. But docks were recently put in. Truck is driving better. Commissioners thank Kurt for bringing that truck to Albany to get fixed. Bill was reasonable and it seems it was fixed. Fishing Derby and the NiskaDay also happen.
    d. Training Report – Had first live burn, attended by 7 members.
    e. Request for External Courses/Purchases – None
7:23 Motion to approve Chiefs Report.
    Motion: Mike Seconded: Richard Doyle

    Motion Carried
  7. New Business – 7:23 – 4th of July tips training for the servers for the 4th, but also for downstairs. Will be June 19th at 7:00pm. Stressed during that training to not drink during this training or before. Every two years. Website is working with Kariane to update the websites. Joe gave her 10 things to clean up the website. That is being addressed. Karian updated the website and requested some things to be updated. Out of district members. Town law 176b that does allow a certain % of your membership to be out of the district. 45% of your membership can be outside the district. Non residence in a fire company duties can not be over 45%. You can emit someone if it is beneficial to the fire department. If the residency is close, or if employed in that district allowing them to make a call. Next company meeting will discuss this next meeting after looking at the rosters and the bylaws. Are the bylaws equal to what it states in town law. Before any request of new membership, the credentials committee needs to look at this beforehand. Commissioners state that a chief does not need to sit on the committee. Chief states that this changed this year and only 4 members on it. So they don’t always know what they are discussing. But they are trying to stay up to date on that. To waive you need to submit something to the state fire division. Need to allow sub districts 60 days to not contest. Jeff asked why the chief shouldn’t be on the committee. Chief stated the individual who nominated it. Also stated they should have 4 members. Can’t break a tie. Vice president and some individuals are the ones who made this decision this year. This use to have the CHief because a background check was needed, sent to a sheriff department and that had to be sent by the chief. This is the Arson section. Chief discussed a conversation on looking at the current roster.
  8. Standing Committee Reports
    a. Long Range Planning (J. Sheely / M . McHale)- 7:40pm Phone plan?Need to revisit if they need the phone plan. $2,000 might be on the hook so is this plan worth it? Discussion needed on the tablets. Look at different plans for those?

Terminate the availability of phone plans. Kurt asked about the 2,000 dollars. The district paid for it. Discussed with our Lawyer, the only option is sending a letter. Attorney will address this letter to this individual. Legal action? What would that cost be?
    b. Building and Grounds (R. Doyle / M . McHale) 7:48pm – Lift inspected. Not needed since height and weight max. Richard Doyle sent out a write up to the board to review. Will put updates in next month’s agenda. Something to think about to get yearly maintenance instead of replacing parts when they break or expire(batteries). Richard Doyle needs bids to go out for painting. Commercial paint job need to go to proper bids. Need crack sealed for the parking lot. Was never done last year. Mike will reach out to get done. Bathroom door needs to be fixed before the 4th of July. Women room sink leaks. Faucet in the Kitchen is not fixed yet but they are scheduled to come to fix. i. Special Committee Reports None – 8:01 pm. Truck committee. Awaiting call back from Aaron. Same timeline and is in production. No final spec, but started work on the truck is the concern. When should the bond conversation start? The bond individuals stated it would be in September.

  2. Old Business- 8:19 – Cell tower on the property. Yes they are interested. Back corner of the lot. A – Are there any major concerns from the community about having a tower? Is getting the specs for Richard, to see about the exact height. Maybe 1500 a month. They did offer to put firehouse needs on their tower if needed to expand any signals.
  3. Mater arise – 8:27 – Mike – Building reserve. 42,000. 10 year old building. Talk about what this reserve is for? Should we be putting money in the Building reserve, or a savings account to use for building. 20,000 quote a few years ago for parking lot. Functionable, no money then. This could be one of the items to look at for the future. Dead tree area is a hazard and can be usable space. Could cost maybe 5,000 to clean that area up and have it usable space. Not enough money in the budget for these projects, but enough in the reserve. Equipment reserve for the air packs. That is coming sooner than later. Move some money to savings for buildings, and the rest shift to equipment reserve. Airpacks 10 years ago there was A LOT more than what they thought 10 years ago. Covid has made everything jump in price of late. The need to get money out of Rserve? Need referendum and 30 days to withdraw funds to pay. But these were made for the building, and there was no need to build a new building. Discussion on bee spray. Discussion on the plowing and what else is needed to research. Insurance. Issues
