They have a 1/2 inch male thread with a high-quality brass core (not cheap plastic), so they can be used over and over without wearing out. The blue colour is the standard for sealing cold water lines (they also make red ones for hot water). The body is polypropylene, and there's an EPDM O-ring to ensure a watertight seal.
